Memorial Day Weekend HighLine Walk NYC

Memorial Day weekend Sunday

Walked the High Line

It is a 1.45 mile long New York City linear park
built in Manhattan on an elevated section of
a disused New York Central Railroad spur called the
West Side Line.

We are on our way up!
See the greenery below?
That is where we were headed.

Oh my those stairs ! But I lived to tell.

The view is amazing along the walk way.

Enjoying Vacation Week Locally

As my vacation week comes to a close
I have enjoyed just doing local activities:

Monday:  car repair &  pedi

Auntie and I went for a pedi

Tuesday  - hair cut & cleaning the house

Wednesday - Liz Curtis Higgs
Ladies Day at Americas Keswick with Aunt Rose & Michelle.
She is so funny and it was wonderful.

Thursday
Did a little shopping and found a great buy.

My deal of the week: Price $ 49.99 ~ found in Kohl's junk isle.
Sale Price: $ 14.99 - coupon $ 10.00 = my cost $ 5.34 including tax.

Savings $ 45.00 ~

Cooking a special meal for hubby ~ he gave it two thumbs up.
Chicken with Thyme, Peas & Mushrooms
Red Skin Potatoes with Thyme
Water melon for dessert.

Friday
Hubby stayed home from work and spent the day with me
We tried a new restaurant to us in Sea Bright NJ.
Alice's Kitchen.
Sea Bright was destroyed by hurricane Sandy so it was
nice to see a restaurant open.

It is an Irish breakfast place.
Hubby and I both had delicious oatmeal and Irish Soda Bread.
It's very cute inside.

Then we took a drive to Sandy Hook.
US Army - Fort Hancock.

The beach was so very quiet.

We visited the lighthouse.

Saturday
Breakfast at our local diner then we
decided to walk our town of Red Bank.

It sits right on the Navesink River and is really lovely.
When I was growing up the town almost died when the local
mall opened up.  People preferred to shop at the mall where
it was warm and dry and not to shop in the local town.
But it has since been restored and a favorite of the locals.

Red Bank is home of Soul Kitchen ~ the restaurant
owned by Jon Bon Jovi.

FitBit Update

I did 11,006 steps today so far.

I earned a badge:

London underground badge !

You've walked 250 miles—as many as the world's first underground railway. This triumph really lays the tracks for some big things in the future!

Mother's Day 2015

Hubby took me to Bronxville NY today.
I told him I wanted a nice pretty place
we can walk. I am really focused on
exercise since I have my FITBIT.

We walked at this beautiful park.

It was so lovely.  Stuck in right there next to the
Bronx River Parkway yet so peaceful.

Isn't this tree glorious. I love dogwood trees and
of course PINK ones.

This beautiful church was completely circled in
tulips.  Felt like I was in Holland.

The water was so pretty.

I love the smell of lilac's and they remind me of
my sweet Sara who always had them in her house
when I was a child.

The Bronxville waterfall.

Don't let this peaceful scene fool you.  Gar was sprinting
after a man who left his cell phone on the bench.
61 years old and he can still move !  hah

Hubby really doesn't like to be in photos (which makes
me sad) I try not to press him or nag but occasionally I
can convince him.

He looks great too !

Then we went and had dinner at Piper's Kilt. I love this place.
Gar use to take me here often when we dated.

They are known for their hamburgers and they are so good!
Look no bread ~ walked my legs off wasn't about to blow it
with unnecessary carbs !  hah

Then it was time to head home.   See George in the view?
If this blog had sound you may be able to hear my hubby
crying.  You know ~ leaving NY for Jersey ! hah

Hello George yes it is the Azarian's again just crossing over.

Thanks hubby for a lovely day !

7,355 steps so far !
