AC & In the Kitchen With David Day !

Today we had tickets at the
Bogota in Atlantic City for
a cooking demo with
David Venable from QVC.
My hubby loves to watch his show.

My hubby bought his cookbook last
year at the NYC Food Network Weekend.
He got to meet him and had it signed.

Heading into Atlantic City
They have the huge power windmills.
I love those things.

Lesson in Faithfulness & Trust and Letting Go

I didn't go to church with my hubby this morning.
We drive an hour to church on the Garden State
Parkway and NJ Turnpike.  It can be crazy sometimes
with traffic and speeding cars.

Sometimes my "fears" rear their ugly heads and
I worry about him when I do not go with him.
He is a grown man and it is crazy to think I
could protect him from anything anyway.

So this morning I sent him off in prayer . . .

Well he was late coming home and I was praying
he just was hanging out fellowshipping with our
friends at church.

He comes home and I learn his car broke down
where:  in the gas station getting gas !

THANK YOU LORD

And the mechanic who doesn't work on Sundays
was there just dropping off a mop.

Then he learns the owners of the gas station
are Armenian's like my hubby and they bonded.

Then he finds out they are Christians and
go to Hawthorne Gospel Church.

And all he needed was a new battery.

Obviously God was saying, "Maryellen I have
your hubby in my hands".

  • “Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
    There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

    • “Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!“
        Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
  • Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
  • Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
    Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Hubby and I went to see
Barefoot Contessa Ina Garten, last night
She was so good. It was an interview
type show and she took audience questions.
    It was fun!

She encourage us to get out there at take
risks ~ take chances on things you want to do.

Then tonight we saw Anne Burrell

She cooked and took audience questions.
She said you are the chef in your kitchen.
There is no right or wrong way to cook.
If you like to do it a certain way then do it.

We had dinner both nights at our little
local diner.  Good is so good there.

Next Saturday we may head down to
Atlantic City to see David from QVC.

    Hubby loves his chef's hah

    Labor Day 2013

There are people in this country who work hard every day
Not for fame or fortune do they strive
But the fruits of their labor are worth more than their pay
And it's time a few of them were recognized

Hello Detroit auto workers, let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin', just to send it on down the line
Hello Pittsburgh steel mill workers, let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin', just to send it on down the line

This is for the one who swings the hammer, driving home the nail
Or the one behind the counter, ringing up the sale
Or the one who fights the fires, the one who brings the mail
For everyone who works behind the scenes

You can see them every morning in the factories and the fields
In the city streets and the quiet country towns
Working together like spokes inside a wheel
They keep this country turning around

Hello Kansas wheat field farmer, let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin', just to send it on down the line
Hello West Virginia coal miner, let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin', just to send it on down the line

This is for the one who drives the big rig, up and down the road
Or the one out in the warehouse, bringing in the load
Or the waitress, the mechanic, the policeman on patrol
For everyone who works behind the scenes

With a spirit you can't replace with no machine
Hello America let me thank you for your time

Love this song by Alabama my favorite Country Group.

Rainy Labor Day at the Jersey Shore.

    Labor Day Sunday

After church hubby and I headed into NYC.
    Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant closed
and we have been "grieving ever since hah

We tried several places and the food is not at
    all the same.

In doing his research hubby came across a
place in the Village in NYC that had photos
and they looked exactly like what we use to order.

So after church we headed into NYC to give
    it a try.

    Saigon Market

Interesting enough they had a few of the same
staff and identical menu. We suspect it is
    the same owners.

This is the Cha Gio or what we like to call it # 1

This is Bun Xao or # 78

We were in Heaven.  Tasted exactly like
what we remember.  OH LA LA

After eating we walked around the Village a bit
they had a street fair and also an Arts Festival.

These are a few photo from the street fair

    Grilled corn

My hubby in red ball cap

    Gotta love NYC
    Texas Roadside Smoker hah
Cowboys making BBQ in the Village hah

This man made the neatest clocks

The don't allow you to take photos of the
booths which is understandable the artists
    don't want their ideas copies.

Statue of Washington in the Park.

The view was spectacular of the Empire
State building but you can't see it with
    my little camera.

OH my word ~ this place amazing !
    Gelato ! ! !

    Can you say:  Cioccolato Amorino
    and Lemon  oh yes !

On they way home we have a great view of the
city before we head into the Lincoln Tunnel.

We had a blessed day !
