Cold & Snowy Day - Oct 29th ?

What a surprise !  A snow day on Oct 29th.   After early morning errands and a nice breakfast with my hubby we came home to snuggle in.  You can hear the ice hitting our windows and the wind is really howling. So thankful for a warm apartment with heat.

Decided to have some fun and update my blog. I found a background of peonies. I love peonies. They are my favorite flower. I had them as my wedding bouquet. I still have it. It was made of silk flowers so I have it as a keepsake forever.

I remember a few weeks before we got married hubby to be took me to upstate New York and we went to a huge flea market. It covered the whole town. I happened upon a booth that was selling handmade totes.  Sure enough I see one of peony material. I was so excited, just new it was God shining His amazing favor down on me.  Here is a photo of my find. I still love it to this day and use it for my bible study books.

My Auntie who lives next door has peonies in her yard. Every year I can't wait for them to bloom.
When my Sollie was still with us, he would walk right in the middle of Aunties flowers and get himself in a bit of trouble.  He was so nosey he had to see just what Auntie was doing. She always blesses me with two bright pink (my favorite color) peonies for our apartment once they bloom.

Here are a few photo's of peonies to brighten up this cold snowy day !

Don't they look like big PINK snowballs !

Happy Anniversary - 4 years ago today !

Our Wedding Song . . .

He is now to be among you at the calling of your hearts
Rest assured this troubadour is acting on His part.
The union of your spirits, here, has caused Him to remain
For whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name
There is Love. There is Love.

Well, a man shall leave his mother and a woman leave her home
They shall travel on to where the two should be as one.
As it was in the beginning is now until the end
Woman draws a life from man and gives it back again.
And there is Love. There is Love.

Well, then what's to be the reason for becoming man and wife?
Is it Love that brings you here or Love that brings you life?
Or if loving is the answer, then who's the giving for?
Do you believe in something that you've never seen before?
Oh there's Love, oh there's Love.

Oh the marriage of your spirits here has caused Him to remain
For whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name
There is Love. Ah there's Love.

52 years !

Can't believe I am 52. Where does the time go? So much to be thankful for.

Always have had a warm bed to sleep in all these 52 years.
Always a roof over my head.
Always a job & car to get me there.
Good health - 52 and I've never spent 1 hour in a hosptial bed.
Have had wonderful family & friends
Childhood friends for over 45 years & still in my life
A wonderful Godly husband
A precious little doggie for 14 of those years . . .and now a treasure in Heaven waiting for me
A precious, precious faith and belief in Jesus
Many blessed church families as my life has journeyed and taken me from place to place.
There have been hard times, good times, fun times, awesome times,
God has been faithful through it all

When I think that this tiny tiny premie was not suppose to live. Sent home back in 1959 to die.  But the Lord had other plans and a grandmother who fattened me up had other plans also. hah
Okay she may have "over-plumbed" me a bit but it sure worked. hah

When I think back over these 52 years I am filled with gratitude - I am a rich, rich women.

I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30

Beautiful flowers from my hubby for my birthday !  And tickets to see Harry Connick Jr on broadway in On A Clear Day You Can See Forever.

Multiple Celebrations !

Had a blessed day in Cold Springs NY.  Met my mother-in-law Mary, sister-in-law Linda, Cousins-in-laws Mitch & Donna, Adrianne (her hubby Chris had to work).  We ate lunch at Cold Springs Depot Restaurant.  Hubby and I got there about an hour early and took a walk to the Hudson River and the mountain view was beautiful with the trees.  We were celebrating several wedding anniversaries that are in October. Donna & Mitch 21 years, Adrianne & Chris 27 years, Gar & I  4 years, four birthdays, Donna, Adrianne, Mary & me - all in Oct.

My mother-in-laws birthday is the day after mine Oct 25th and her name is Mary and I'm Maryellen.
Amazing how God works things out.

Here are several photos from our day.   The photos don't do the foliage justice.

Vacation Oct 2011 Peachtree City GA

Hubby and I had a wonderful time in Peachtree City GA. It's a great little city.

We love the golf cart trails. Here I am at Publix grocery and you can see the golf carts parked all over. We spoke to a neat man who was strapping his two tiny little grandsons into his golf cart after doing his shopping. He said most people use them to do all their travels around town. He was really a nice man. He said, strap in the Grandsons and drive off in your cart - only in America.

You see signs all over regarding the carts. They have tons of trails and bridges just for the carts. As you drive along the highways you'll see a cart driving past on their trail.

Here's one of the cart bridges you pass as you drive your car.
So fun to see them going over the bridge.

We were delighted to learn that one of our favorite breakfast restaurants in Georgia had a location 10 minutes from our hotel.  It is called The Flying Biscuit.  It is soooooo good!

As you can see from my breakfast below.  A huge biscuit and grits. Oh my these grits. Creamy like you would not believe.  Made with white cheddar cheese.  Words can't describe them.

I love the decor of the place. So fun and lively. Great colors.  I purchased a sugar bowl, handmade pottery with Flying Biscuit on the side.

Here's my cute hubby at Stone Mountain Park. Such a beautiful place.

The carving depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

We rode the train around the mountain. It was pretty being fall and the trees changing. We got a real laugh at the breaks of the train.  It was such a loud high pitch squeak.  Hubby was going crazy with it.

Because we went during the Pumpkin festival they had fun things for children. This is a pumpkin patch they had set up and tons of clothes & hats. You can dress the pumpkins as you like and take photos with your children. The children were having such fun dressing them up.

We went into Atlanta to the Aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium, located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA at Pemberton Place, is the world's largest aquarium with more than 8.5-million-US-gallon of marine and fresh water housing more than 120,000 animals of 500 different species. The aquarium's notable specimens include four young whale sharks, four beluga whales, and four manta rays

I thought it was cool that it's founder was from Newark NJ.
Bernard Marcus co-founder of Home Depot.

This is Deepo - the mascot.

We went to the Dolphin Show. (I didn't take these photos - no camera's allowed) These are from google. The show was called Dolphin Tails. It was really nice. It is a story about good versus evil and the lead singer sounds like he belongs on Broadway. What a voice.  The dolphins are so precious. They wave and jump and flip and perform.

Here's one of the dolphins in his tank.
They swim so fast it was hard to get a shot of them with my little camera.

We visited The Carter Presidential Center.   I love history. So funny. I hated history in school. I struggled remembering dates etc . . . I remember being young and foolish and complaining to my grandmom - why do I have to learn this? What difference does it make what happened so long ago? Now as an adult I love history. I find it so interesting.  Sure wish I felt different in school.

 I loved this.
The outfits President Carter and Rosalyn wore to be married.
They were so young and looked like kids.

This is President Carter's high chair..  Wow who would have thought this little one would grow up to be President of the United States - the greatest country in the world !

We visited Joe's Crab Shack.  Hubby and I try to find one where ever we travel. It is just a fun thing we are doing.  So far . . . NJ, CO, DE, FL, TX, and now GA !  We are racking up the States.

I took this photo for hubby.  He found this place the last two times we visited Georgia. It is called The Buckhead Diner. But let me tell you don't let the term Diner fool you. They have valet parking hah. It is wonderful the food is so good. My hubby eats really, really healthy. He takes great care of himself and hardly ever eats anything we could say was fattening.  Well, he lets himself go at The Buckhead hah  He ordered this the first time we went and he has ever since.

It is thin, thin cut potato chips deep fried and smothered in smooth, creamy hot blue cheese.
He is so happy when he eats this. hah

Courageous the Movie

Had a blessed day. After church hubby & I went to lunch with some dear church friends. Gerie & Bart, Cheryl & Dennis, Ana & Jean.  Had a wonderful lunch at the Coach House Diner.  Then we went to see the movie Courageous.  It was wonderful. Funny,  action packed and so so meaningful. Every man should see this movie.

It touched my heart in so many ways.  I loved the scene with the Dad taking his young daughter out to a fancy restaurant and giving her a ring that she is to wear until the Godly man who will be her husband replaces it with his ring. What young girl wouldn't love her Daddy to do that?

Made me think of my Dad who I never knew. I met him once or twice but it really meant nothing to me as I was young and to me he was just a man who they said is your father.  I don't know what ever happened to him in his life. If he is even alive. I imagine he has died. Praying he received Jesus and I can get to know him in Heaven.

I don't recall missing him since I never really knew him. God restored the years the locust had eaten and provided a dear neighbor man who became a mentor and Dad to me. And also some wonderful Uncles.  These men lovingly filled in the gap and I truly don't recall having missed my own Dad.

I can't say enough great things about this movie. So thankful for this church and the 4 movies they have made. Each one is special and each one has something important to teach us all.

If you haven't seen them I would recommend seeing them all:

Flywheel
Facing the Giants
Fireproof
Courageous
