Sunday School Makes a Difference

I just had to post about this precious story. I also want to remember it and my blog is sort of my journal or diary.  My husband Gary teaches 1st & 2nd grade Sunday School. He is gifted with children. We don't have any children of our own but Gary has many, many children as he has taught them for 30 plus years.
This past Sunday he was teaching his class and I had my turn at the administration table.  The teacher for the 3rd & 4th grade classes was not able to teach so there was a vacancy for those students.  It was decided that they would move up to the 5th & 6th grade class for this week and join them.  Well, I am sitting at the admin table and a sweet little girl comes who is in 3rd grade.  I tell her that her teacher is absent and that she can join the 5th & 6th grade this week.  She looks very unhappy with that plan. I asked her if she would feel better going back to the 1st & 2nd grade class with my husband Gary. (she had Gary as her teacher the previous year)  She got the biggest smile on her face and she said . . ."Oh yes, I want to go into Gary's class" then she started to walk towards the class but turned back and said just as serious and sweetly as you can imagine.  "You know I love him"  I almost cried. It was just precious. What a testimony to my husband. What a wonderful legacy he is leaving for these children.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

Martin Luther King Jr Day Monday 1-17-2011

Has anybody here seen my old friend Abraham?

Can you tell me where he's gone?

He freed a lot of people,

But it seems the good they die young.

You know, I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend John?

Can you tell me where he's gone?

He freed a lot of people,

But it seems the good they die young.

I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?

Can you tell me where he's gone?

He freed a lot of people,

But it seems the good they die young.

I just looked 'round and he's gone.

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?

Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?

And we'll be free

Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...

Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?

Can you tell me where he's gone?

I thought I saw him walkin' up over the hill,

With Abraham, Martin and John.

John 13:34-35 (The Message)

"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other."

Spider-Man - Turn Off The Dark on Broadway 2011

My mother-in law Mary gave us tickets to see Spider-Main on Broadway for Christmas.
Yesterday we went.  It was really something. My goodness they were flying all over the place.
I really loved the music, you could tell it was from Bono and The Edge. The costumes were great too. Really colorful. The set was amazing looked like you were looking at a 3-D comic book.  There was a little boy next to my husband I would guess he was about 6, my goodness the expression on his face was priceless. He was awestruck.   I knew nothing about Spider-Man and never saw the movies or read the comics.  I didn't know he was bullied and therefore became Spider-Man.  They had that written into the play and it showed the pain a young person feels at being bullied. It was so revelant to today.  The play hasn't officially opened yet, we had tickets for the previews.
Now I want to rent the movies. hah

Happy New Year 2011 !

These lines are from "The Gate of the Year," a poem written in 1908 by Minnie Louise Haskins: I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year "Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown." And he replied, "Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way!"

This is my hope for this new year.  That when I can't see His hand I'll trust His heart . . .
