Fathers Day

We had a wonderful Father's Day.

Our men's ministry did a lovely moving
Father's Day event.

Remember the movie Courageous.
Our men all signed the RESOLUTION
and stood before the church in suits
and each man gave testimony and read
off one of the vows below.

It was so moving, I cried through most of it.

My favorite part of the movie is the very end
when he says, Who will?  I WILL, I WILL,
and the men start to stand ~ oh how I love it.

THE RESOLUTION
I do solemnly resolve before God to take full responsibility for myself, my wife, and my children.

I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach them the Word of God as the spiritual leader of my home.
I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down my life for her as Jesus Christ did for me.

I WILL bless my children and teach them to love God with all of their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength.
I WILL train them to honor authority and live responsibly.

I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy.
I WILL pray for others and treat them with kindness, respect, and compassion.
I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family.
I WILL forgive those who have wronged me and reconcile with those I have wronged.
I WILL learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God.
I WILL seek to honor God, be faithful to His church, obey His Word, and do His will.
I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

My hubby and I were serving downstairs.
He was teaching and I was principal this week.
But I was able to watch it on the tv downstairs.

While my hubby was teaching and was not able to be on stage
he signed the Resolution and we hung it in our home.

Nothing makes me prouder than my husbands integrity, love and commitment to "his" Sunday School children. He has faithfully served and taught for 30 plus years. He may not have biological children but he has a Father's heart and a calling from the Lord to train them up. Happy Father's Day Gar - Love you

For I have chosen him, in order that he may command his "children" and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice -
Genesis 18:19

Caught him praying this morning.
In his new Hawaiian shirt he bought in
Oahu.  He looks handsome in it.

  1. Maryellen...I loved the Courageous Movie! I wish more men were like your husband and would take a stand for what is right and good. His Sunday School kids are blessed!

That is wonderful that your church did that on Father's Day! I think it is a wonderful idea!

The men in my family have seen it....and have taken it to heart. I just wish more and more men would be courageous and take the challenge.
